The Matrix assignment has been replaced by Week 6 Cohort Teamwork Progress Conference, your Online Assignment. Directions and expectations are in the Week 6 Readings and Online Coursework document, on writingmine.com. The 20 points will be awarded based on your work on this assignment, both in uploading your document in a timely manner and in making constructive comments on your cohort’s material.
So, DO NOT stress over this item. It does not exist!
Your work this week is to 1) finish researching the topic, 2) do the work laid out on the Week 6 Readings and Online Classwork document, and 3)write your Literature Review/Research Report. The rough draft is due next week.
What's a rough draft, exactly? A student asked today if there was a minimum number of pages. GREAT question! I won't answer it. ;-D Instead, I will tell you: this is an 8-10 page paper assignment. If your rough draft is going to be significantly shorter than 8 pages, make sure it includes the remainder of your outline, and that outline might have one or two sentences in each unfinished segment, so that your readers will know where you're going with it. It should also have your References page, especially since your Planning Outline says to do that FIRST. A rough draft might be different things to different writers. It needs to be a completely conceived paper, even if you haven't finished all of its parts. Also, remember that in class I let you know that if your rough draft does not include your primary research, that is okay; collecting that primary material might take time, depending on what you're doing, and you will add it when it's ready. If your primary research is not in your rough draft, briefly explain what it is.
Reminder: the 8-10 pages does not include your cover sheet, abstract or References page. Also: 8 pages is better than 10. If you're a long-winded writer, and your draft is 13 pages, your revision task will include pruning that down. If you're an extraordinary writer, you might be able to do the job in 7 or so, and IF the paper fulfills the objective, I would not dock your grade. However, it really MUST do all it is supposed to do. A note: Please don't endeavor to fill up more space with your graphic figure than it requires. If it takes up a whole page, you can go over the page limit.
Please do not hold back with questions about this. It's a crucial point in the course, and you need to ask about anything that is holding you up!
